Meralco Up 2-1 After Beating Ginebra in Game 3
Bolts Win Second Straight
The Meralco Bolts grabbed a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Philippine Cup semifinal series after defeating the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 87-80, on Sunday, May 19 at the Mall.
The Bolts got off to a hot start, building an early double-digit lead. Ginebra fought back in the second half, but Meralco held on to secure the victory.
Strong Finish
Meralco nearly blew a big lead in the fourth quarter, but they were able to hold on for the win. The Bolts led by 15 points with just over four minutes remaining, but Ginebra went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to five.
Meralco responded with a three-pointer by Allein Maliksi and a jumper by Chris Newsome to seal the victory.
